Kolkata: COVID-19 Lockdown: There is a shortage of currency in many ATMs in West Bengal (COBID-19 restrictions) due to the restrictions imposed by the Corona virus, because private companies with cash in them are working with few employees. Sanjay Das, West Bengal convenor of All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), said that these private companies usually withdraw money from chests (treasuries) every Friday as banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays in the state.

Ananya Dasgupta, a resident of Jadavpur, said, "I went to two ATMs around me on Monday morning but both did not have cash." Many people of the neighborhood also complained about this. Being a Rakhi today, I had planned a banquet for my brother, but this was not possible due to me having less cash. She is working with and is closed on weekends. Due to this, there is a delay in filling cash at ATMs.

Das said, "But, they are trying to cash in all ATMs." He said that not all ATMs within the bank premises are empty as banks are only taken care of by those who cash in such machines and There is no role of third party in this.
