Home Minister Amit Shah has tested positive for coronavirus. The Union minister took to Twitter to inform about his health and requested all those who have come in contact with him in the last few days to get themselves tested for coronavirus.

Amit Shah said that his health is fine and he is being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. Amit Shah has been admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

As per doctors, Amit Shah has comorbidities and, thus, comes under the vulnerable category. His oxygen levels will be monitored from now on.

"On getting initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request that all those who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your inquiry done," Home Minister Amit Shah said in a tweet.

Home Minister Amit Shah has been at the forefront of India's fight against the novel coronavirus. Amit Shah even assisted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in bringing the Covid situation in Delhi under control when the infections were at peak in the national capital.

Setting aside political differences, Amit Shah and the Delhi government had held a series of meetings and discussions to bring the Covid situation in Delhi under control.

Amit Shah was also on the list of invitees of the Ayodhya Ram temple Bhoomi Pujan that is slated to take place on August 5.



More than 17 lakh corona cases in India

There have been 54,735 new coronovirus cases in India in the last 24 hours on Sunday. Corona cases in the country have increased to 17,50,723 with new cases. This information came from the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. At the same time, 853 people died due to coronavirus in a period of 24 hours. Out of a total of 17,50,723 cases of infection, 5,67,730 cases are active, while 11,45,629 people have recovered from the disease and have been discharged, while 37,364 people have lost their lives in fighting the virus.

Death rate of Kovid in the country is 2.15%

A total of 51,255 people were discharged in the last 24 hours. With this, the recovery rate of Kovid-19 in India is 64.53 percent. The death rate in the country is 2.15 percent. A total of 1,98,21,831 samples have been tested so far, of which 4,63,172 tests have taken place in the last 24 hours. There are a total of 1,344 labs currently operating in India and capable of testing the Kovid-19, of which 913 are government while 431 are private.
