The National Expert Committee under the chairmanship of NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul will meet on Wednesday (August 12) to consider the implementation and ethical aspects of procurement and management of Kovid-19 vaccine. This committee will formulate strategies on aspects of vaccination management, distribution and cold chain implementation and prioritize the training of vaccine people. The Ministry of Health gave this information on Tuesday (August 11) in response to a question related to the tie-up with Russia for the Corona vaccine.
The Ministry tweeted, "The Expert Committee on Vaccine Administration under the chairmanship of Dr. VK Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, will meet on 12 August to consider the implementation and ethical aspects of the purchase and management of the Kovid-19 vaccine." The ministry said in another tweet that the committee on vaccine management will work with all stakeholders, including state governments and vaccine manufacturers.
Significantly, Russia's President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday (August 11) that his country had developed the first vaccine against the corona virus, which works "very effectively" in combating Kovid-19 and " "Builds a permanent immunity". With this, he revealed that one of his daughters had already been given this vaccine. According to 'Sputnik' News, Putin made this claim in a government meeting and said that it is "a very important step for the world."
Phase II trial for corona vaccine in India
ICMR Director General Balaram Bhargava said last Tuesday (August 4) that the first phase of human clinical trials of two potential vaccines of Kovid-19 have been completed and the trial has reached the second stage. This vaccine is being developed indigenously with Bharat Biotech, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Zydus Cadila Limited. The Serum Institute of India, Pune, has been permitted to conduct human clinical trials of Phase II and III of a potential vaccine for Kovid-19 developed by Oxford University.
